Songs of the summer

Summer is all about finding the right soundtrack. Here are five of my favorite songs of summer 2008.

1. Immuzikation--Fish Tacos (zshare)

I am not the biggest Coldplay fan. That is me being polite, what I really mean is that I think that they are super-lame. However, this song, which combines Coldplay, M.I.A., the Blow, Cut Copy, Weezer, and the Reading Rainbow theme, is quite possibly the most amazing thing that I have heard in a long time. Immuzikation makes a lot of other mash-ups, but this one is totally the best (regardless of the gross vagina name).

2. Throw Me the Statue--Lolita (zshare)

This is what plays when I get texts right now. I usually listen to the whole ringtone before reading the text, even though I've heard this song a million times. The chorus is so catchy.

3. Lil Wayne feat. Jay-Z--Mr. Carter (zshare)
Summer is the best time for hip hop. I am not sure why.

4. The Hold Steady--Constructive Summer (zshare)

5. Santogold--You'll Find a Way (zshare)

Musical Observances

I listen to a lot of music, and I also like to observe profoundly true things.

1. This song belongs in an Apple commercial:
Dan Deacon--Pink Batman (zshare)

Strange to think that Dan Deacon could make a song that clearly should be in an Apple commercial. If you have not heard of him, Dan Deacon is this amazing, portly guy with thick glasses who makes electronic catchy crack music. Listening to a whole Dan Deacon CD is kind of like eating two whole bags of Sour Patch Kids in a single sitting. I saw him on my birthday last year, it was a great way to spend the evening. HAS this song been in a commercial? It really seems like it.

2. This is my original amazing observance. I still think it is fucking hilarious.
Radiohead--Nude (zshare)

You might have heard of the band Radiohead, they made a CD last year, it supposedly changed the entire music industry, no big. There is a beautiful and haunting song called "Nude" on this CD. At the very end of this song, just before the 4:00 minute mark, where Thom Yorke is crooning ethereally. He starts singing JUST LIKE the Little Mermaid does when the sea witch steals her voice. I have seen that movie at least 8000 times and so I know Ariel when I hear it. AMAZING.

This is my blog.

Hey guys welcome to my blog. I have a lot of free time at work, and I have A LOT of random thoughts. I am guessing that this will mostly be about music, TV, fashion, celebrity gossip, and random things from my life. Enjoy.
